What is a liters to pounds conversion?

A liters to pounds converter turns a volume measured in liters into a weight measured in pounds. A liter measures how much space a substance occupies, while a pound measures how heavy it is, so the two are only linked through the substance’s density. One liter of water and one liter of honey take up the same space, yet the honey weighs far more.

How does it work?

Weight equals volume multiplied by density. Because the calculator stores densities as pounds per US gallon, it first converts your liters to gallons (1 US gallon = 3.78541 liters) and then multiplies by the product’s density:

Notes

Density changes a little with temperature and composition, so treat these figures as close estimates rather than exact values. Whole milk is slightly heavier than water, while cooking oils are lighter.
